History
La Jaraba: a land with history
La Jaraba is located in the historic area of the same name, between the towns of Villarrobledo and El Provencio, in the heart of La Mancha.
Historical findings of settlements from the Paleolithic era have demonstrated the advantages of this land for agriculture and livestock farming. Iberians, Romans, Visigoths, and Arabs all found in this place a unique enclave to establish their settlements.
La Jaraba takes its name from the Arabs, who described it as: “land abundant in water.”
At the dawn of the 21st century, the estate changed ownership, leading to a revolution in its production system. The new owners restored and improved the vineyards, olive groves, and livestock farming, while also constructing a winery, cheese factory, and olive mill. This transformation turned Pago de La Jaraba into a fully integrated and sustainable agri-food operation, with the clear objective of enhancing the quality of the products for which the estate had historically been renowned.

1997
Acquisition by the current family owners
La Jaraba changes ownership, and the new owners embark on a unique project.
1998
Vineyard plantation
After conducting a preliminary soil study at La Jaraba, we plant our single-estate vineyard.

1999
Winery inauguration
After planting the vineyard, construction begins on the winery, blending tradition with modern innovation.
2003
Joining AGRAMA
Following several years of improvements in livestock farming, we join the National Association of Select Manchego Sheep Breeders.

2008
Olive grove plantation
In a bold move, we design and establish the current olive grove plantation at La Jaraba.
2010
Olive mill inauguration
With meticulous attention to detail, we inaugurate our olive mill to process only the olives grown on our estate.

2011
Cheese factory inauguration
After years of genetic improvement in our sheep, we take on the challenge of producing our own Artisan Manchego Cheese.
2012
Walnut tree plantation
After evaluating various options, we begin an experimental walnut plantation to study its growth and potential.

2013
Sauvignon Blanc grafting
Observing market trends, we decide to graft Sauvignon Blanc buds onto our vineyard to begin our journey in white wine production.
2014
Inauguration of Gaspar, the windmill
Showcasing our passion for our land, we embark on a giant project: constructing Gaspar, our traditional windmill.

2015
First bottles of white wine
We take our first steps in white wine production with grapes from the vineyard grafted in 2013.
2016
New olive plantation
Continuing our commitment to olive cultivation, a key CO₂ absorber, we expand our groves.

2017
Almond tree plantation
To optimize resources and sustainability, we initiate our first almond plantation.
2018
The second generation begins
The second generation of our family business actively joins the project.
2019
D.O.P. La Jaraba recognition
A great achievement! The European Union grants us the highest possible distinction for a vineyard in Spain.
2020
New almond plantation
Following our resource management strategy, we continue expanding almond cultivation.

2021
Conversion to super-intensive olive groves
We reinforce our commitment to olive farming, recognizing its resilience and high value.
2022
Pistachio plantation
Continuing our expansion into nut cultivation, we begin our journey with pistachios.
